The world of 3D printing has grown by leaps and bounds in a very short time. There are options that can print plastics and resins, recyclable materials and more.
There are even machines designed to use metal for 3D printing, although there are fewer companies in this area than in others. You can now add one more option to that number – Sinterex will specialize in metal 3D printing, and the company has just opened its doors.
Who Is Sinterex?
Metal 3D printing has largely been centered in Europe, the US and Australia, but Sinterex isn’t located in any of these areas. They’re based in the UAE.
That shouldn’t come as a big surprise, though, as Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been ramping up their focus on 3D printing in the past few months.
Sinterex will be the Middle East’s first ever specialist in the metal additive manufacturing sector. They have just announced the opening of their first physical location, as well.
It will be in the UAE, and located just a few miles from the city of Dubai. The founders of the company are Julian Callanan, Dr. Alaa Elwany and Dr. Paul Smith.
In terms of what Sinterex will offer its clients, you can expect quite a lot. They will be an end-to-end provider, delivering all levels of 3D design and printing in a range of different metals.
Their goals are to serve the needs of big business in the UAE and throughout the Middle East, including energy companies, aerospace firms, and manufacturers.
“In the current slow economic and low oil price environment, companies are under increasing pressure to identify areas for cost reduction and value enhancement. These goals can be achieved through metal additive manufacturing,” explained Dr. Alaa Elwany.
One of the most interesting services on offer from Sinterex is their unique screening framework. This technology allows them to determine whether a particular type of metal for part production ordered by a client will be suitable for 3D printing.
That takes a great deal of guesswork out of the equation and helps ensure the highest quality printed products.
“Metal additive manufacturing has been hailed as a disruptive innovation with the power to challenge existing supply chains,” the company states. That’s certainly true, but it looks like Sinterex is taking the helm in the UAE and throughout the Middle East to ensure that companies have access to the widest range of innovative solutions to save money, streamline supply chains and reinvent entire industry segments.
They have big goals, including the reduction of supply chain lead times from 60 days to as little as a month. Only time will tell if they’re able to achieve those, but so far, the future looks bright for this startup.
