There’s no shortage of amazing crowdfunding options out there, but one of the most innovative and inventive might just be 3D Bean™, a new creative studio that allows customers to print lifelike 3D photo figurines of themselves, pets and loved ones.
It’s an amazing way to give a truly memorable gift, or to memorialize a moment in time forever. Move over class photos and sports photography – 3D Bean has something you can’t touch.
How 3D Bean Works
3D Bean’s studio works in a pretty simple way. Essentially, the company uses advanced 3D printing to create truly remarkable figurines based on photographs.
Of course, you can’t just drop off your 10-year-old prints and hope that the company can make something nice out of them.
The process requires ultra-HD full-body scans, which are accomplished in the company’s figurine studio, located in Malden, MA.
The secret to the process is the company’s patent-pending 360-degree multi-camera system, which is used to capture every single detail of the subject from every single angle, from the top of the head to the toes of the shoes, front, back and sides.
If that sounds time-consuming, don’t worry. While the system creates ultra-high resolution pictures, it takes only a split second to capture. You simply stand in the center of the studio, the operator initiates the process, and you’re done.
Once the photography is done, the real work begins. The images are sent to a computer, where they’re formed into a single cohesive hole – a three-dimensional image of the subject. From that image, the company prints a 3D photo figurine that is accurate down to the last detail, whether that’s the floral print of the shirt you’re wearing or the strings on the bass guitar you brought to the photo-shoot.
Currently, the company offers five choices in figurine scale. They range from 1:6 at the high end, which stands 11 1/2 inches tall, down to 1:18, which stands just 3 7/8 inches tall. In between, you’ll find 1:8, 1:10 and 1:12 options, allowing you to purchase the perfect size, whether you’ll be placing the figurine on a knickknack shelf or creating a larger display. All sizes feature the same exquisite, lifelike detail, creating a true image of the person, animal or object photographed.
